Opening a wall between a kitchen and a den. Adding an arch where a plain cased opening was. Running wainscot and a chair rail through an entry and up a staircase. Rebuilding a stair with new risers and hardwood treads. Boxing in beams and posts. Replacing hollow-core doors and flat casing with something that suits the age of the house. These are the jobs where the difference between good and bad is entirely in the fitting.
A 1958 brick ranch in Forest Acres has settled. Walls are out of plumb, floors run downhill, and door openings are not square. Trim cut to nominal dimensions in a shop will not fit. We scribe, shim and cut to the actual opening. It takes longer than a production install and it is the reason the finished work looks like it belongs there.
